Our 50th Day! {& a FREEBIE}

Just wanted to share a pic of our 50th day of school! We had a blast with our firsties!!!
One of the funniest things ever was our "Bubblegum Blowing Contest"-what a HOOT! I guess I never really stopped to think about how many muscles it takes to actually blow a bubble. Many of the kiddos would puff up their cheeks & blow as hard as they could and that hunk of bubblegum would shoot out of their mouth like a rocket! {Maybe we should have had a Bubblegum Spitting Contest!?!} Well, these two lil 50s cuties were expert bubble blowers {& they were soooo stinkin' cute with those big ole bubbles!}....
I also loved hearing what the kiddos would or would not want 50 of...

And this little guy will make some lady very happy someday. LOL He wrote.... If I had 50 diamonds...I would make a diamond bridge with gold metals. OooLaLa! A diamond bridge!

These 50's Cuties would like 50 dogs & 50 cows!

If you want to check out more of our 50th day activities, just click the pic below!

Here's a couple lil 50th Day freebies-hope you enjoy!!!

A Peek at "Going Batty Writing Craftivity"

Hey bloggin' buds! Just wanted to give you a lil peek at my Bat Craftivity...

Isn't that face just ADORBS?!? My son doesn't seem to mind me using his face on all of my craftivities, but I bet that will change some day! {For now, I just have to promise him a trip to the bakery before school.}

I can't believe that it is already Parent-Teacher Conference time for us this week! I feel like I've been racing around like a crazy woman trying to get everything together. Doesn't it seem like everything seems to hit at the same time???  We only have 3 1/2 days of school this week and we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week, the 50th day of school, Grandparents Day, having a Book Fair AND having Parent-Teacher conferences!!! And that cRaZiNeSs continues into next week with Halloween! Whew!!! Well, with all that said, I wanted to give you a lil sneak preview of my bat unit since I probably won't have time to post our pics of that until next week sometime. So if you would like to check out this super silly bat craftivity plus oodles more literacy activities, just click on the pic below.

I also want to give a super big shout-out to Nikki over at Melonheadz for creating the super cute bats & spiders clipart bundle for me-you're the greatest! THANKS!!! Hope y'all have a great week!

Spectacular Spider Fun! {& some FREEBIES!}

Spiders, spiders everywhere! Wow! do these firsties love spiders! We've had lots of learning fun in the classroom this week with these lil 8-legged critters. Check out this fun Spider Glyph we made...

I wasn't too sure that we were going to get them made....Have you ever had one of those days weeks where you think that you are prepared??? Let me emphasize the word "THINK". As Danielle {my 1st grade teachin' bud} & I so carefully planned & prepared for our week, we did not realize that we would run into the dreaded "copy machine issues"..... Ya, you know exactly what I'm talkin' about, don't ya?....you put your paper in, hit the start button & that big ole machine makes a big clunkin' noise and then all the buzzers start to BEEEEEEP & lights start FLASHING at you!!! Aughhhhhh! Well, to make a long story short, we tried copying our glyph patterns on 4 different copy machines! YES I said 4-with NO luck! Can you believe that?!? I think that those big fancy copy machines should be equipped to shoot out chocolate & caffine when all those darn lights & buzzzing beepers start sounding! Great idea-don't ya think?!? :)  {BTW we did finally get things copied the next day...whew!} At the beginning of the week we started out with a Spider Schema chart. It is so stinkin funny to hear some of the things that kiddos come up with!

Here's one of our spider centers..."Spider I Spy." I made these fun little spider magnifying glasses for the kiddos to read the tiny little sight words on the cards. They just LOVE this center!

We have also started working on related facts & fact families so I made a "Spider Fact Families" math center. The kiddos work with a partner to build the related math facts. These fun centers, the Spider glyph, data collection activities & much more is included in my new "Spectacular Spider Fun" unit.

Just click on the pics to check out more of these super-fun spider activities!

And, of course, I have a couple spider FREEBIES to share with ya! The first one is a simple little dice game that reinforces "doubles addition" skills. Just click the pic to grab it!

The second FREEBIE is a short e word sort. Hope your kiddos love it!

Hey y'all! Are you celebrating the 50th day of school? Well, our 50th day is just a week away & we are gettin' ready to celebrate 1950's style! Oh yeah! Poodle skirts, leather jackets, hula hoops & bubble gum!!! I just can't wait! We've always celebrated the 100th day and last spring I received a special request for a 50th day craftivity-{What a fun idea Shea!!!} I've been super-anxious to celebrate this fun day ever since. Over the summer, I got busy & here's my 50's Cuties Writing Craftivity...

My good friend Danielle starting bouncing around 50th day ideas-we want to make a full day of this 1950's fun! So I packaged up all of the activities with the writing craftivity in this super-fun lil mini-unit...

The Magical Product Swap!!!

MrsStanfordsClass

OMIgoodness!!! I was soooo excited to get in on this great product swap! {Thanks so much Jessica for hosting this-great idea!!!} I am paired up with Kelley from the TEACHER IDEA FACTORY-absolutely LOVE Kelley's blog! If you haven't checked it out, you MUST head over there right now!!!

Sour Apple Studio
Well, since the beginning of this school year, I have been searching for some great ways that my firsties can review and practice all those skills that we are diving into this year....well....SCORE!!!! When I checked out all of the awesome stuff that Kelley has in her TpT shop, her "GOOD MORNING WORK" packets jumped right out at me! PERFECT!!! These things are exactly what I have been looking for. She has packaged up into monthly activities for both reading/language & math skills. You have to check these out! Here is a couple examples of her Reading/Language Skill packet. It incorporates skills that firsties are working on at the time, such as nouns, sentence writing, abc order, beginning & ending sounds, punctuations and soooo much more.

There are 25 days worth of amazing activities in this packet! And here are some examples of her OCTOBER GOOD MORNING ACTIVITIES for MATH...
Don't ya just LOVE it! Kelley, you are amazing!!! I copied the reading & math activities back-to-back so my firsties can work on both skills each day. Once we went over the directions & the kiddos are familiar these activities, it is great independent work! And they LOVE it! It is so nice to have meaningful morning activities for my firsties to work on while I take care of all of that daily "housekeeping" stuff. Great job Kelley!!! And thanks again to Jessica from Mrs. Stanford's Class for hosting this "Magical Product Swap"-be sure to head over to her blog for more great product reviews!
I really hope you head on over to Kelley's Teacher Idea Factory TpT shop to check out her amazing products!!!!

Fall Anchor Charts & a Lil Freebie!

Oh, I just love fall! It just so happens to be one of my favorite times of the year {besides summer, of course!!!} I just love snuggling up in a sweatshirt & sitting by a bonfire! Oh ya! bring on the s'mores!!! This week we made this fun lil "Fall" chart & discussed some of the things that we see or do in the fall.

And, we also made this anchor chart when my firsties were introduced to nouns this week.

 And, ya know "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves" is a MUST-READ this time of year! Like all of the "Old Lady" books, it is perfect for practicing sequencing skills. So, I made this lil reader so we could get a lil extra practice with sequencing and nouns. I also included some story sequencing cards with this file!

Just click the pic above to download your FREEBIE copy!
Hope your kiddos enjoy the "Old Lady" reader!
