We're Hatching! & a lil Farm Freebie

Oh the sound of the little peeps has arrived! First thing this morning we spotted 3 eggs with cracks! The kiddos quickly put away their stuff & grabbed their egg observation journals to log this exciting event. Well that little crack didn't seem to do a whole lot until....math time! As soon as I said, "Who can think of a way that we can make 10 with 3 numbers?"-I heard a loud squeal come from the back of the room. "It's HATCHING!" And instead of all eyes on the Smart Board, well you can just guess! Yep! 21 bodies huddled around the incubator in the back of the room...Oh well...so much for math today! We pulled those observation journals back out to write about our "first hatcher"! We have 6 more eggs with cracks & the kiddos are very anxious to see if any of them hatch during the night. I'm predicting an incubator full of fluffy yellow chicks in the morning!

I've also just posted this fun lil sentence-building center on TpT for FREE! Don't you just love freebies? I wish there were shoe freebies!!! lol {I think I'm addicted to shoes..& blogging....& clipart...OMigoodness! Do you think I need help for these addictions?!?}

If you would like to download this little center, just click on the pic! Hope you enjoy it!

  1. How fun! I wish we could have chicks in our classroom, but apparently they're not allowed at my school. Thanks for the freebie!

  2. Congratulations! Even after doing this year after year...for the past 24 years, I never get tired of seeing that first "pip" and crack..waiting for the babies. It truly is a miracle and I'm looking forward to our group this year...we're starting around April 18. Enjoy them to the fullest!

    Thank you for the freebie!

  3. So much fun! We get our eggs this week, I hope our hatching goes as smoothly as yours - last year we only got 5 chicks out of about 30 eggs and then one of our little chickies died :( Thanks for the freebie too!

  4. We're going to hatch chicks right after Easter. The kids do get so excited! I'm just wondering how your chicks hatched so fast? You only posted last Thursday about your chicks and now there already hatching? Did I miss something?!
    P.S. I bought your chick unit and I can't wait to use it!

    1. We get our eggs when they only have 1 week left in the incubator. Mine actually hatched a day early so it goes pretty quick!

    And thanks for the sentences....my kids love them! I usually don't put in the capital letters and punctuation...

  7. So cute! Well, I don't have a blog, but I wanted to start looking into some of these cute fonts I'm always seeing on teacher blogs. Do you buy fonts individually or get them on a certain CD? If you could recommend your top 3 favorite fonts or most-used font CD(?), what would they be?
