Check out these Beach Day Cuties! {& a Freebie!}

Grab the sunscreen-let's head for the beach! These lil Beach Day Cuties are ready for some summertime fun! If you're looking for a fun little end-of-the-year activity...this is it! And don't tell your kiddos, but they will be using all of those writing skills {that you have worked soooo long and hard on all year long!} I really wish that I had a dollar for each time this year that I asked..."What does a "good sentence" need?"  Seriously folks, I would be able to afford a Carribean dream vacation!!! Has anyone else ever heard themselves repeating that question a bazillion times too??? {I bet you're laughing & shaking your head right now!} I know you all do the same thing!!! lol Oh well, that's why we have good ole summertime!
I just posted my Beach Day Cuties craftivity unit-click on the pic below to check it out.
Ahhhh....SUMMERTIME!!! I don't mean to keep saying that, but it just hasn't quite sunk in to my head yet that I do not have to get up & go to school tomorrow. And for all my blogging friends out there that are still in school....I'm thinkin' bout you guys and sending a little end-of-the-year/summertime freebie your way. Click the pic to download your copy! Hope your kiddos have fun!
...I think I might need to head on over to Pinterest for a bit-OH! I love that place!!! {Is it considered an addiction if you stay up half of the night browsing through pins?!?}

Cinco de Mayo Fun!

Ole'! It's almost May! Omigoodness! Did I say May!?! Does anyone else feel like this is a month that is absolutely jam-packed with activities on the school calendar? Plus, you have lots of stuff that you want to cover before the end of the year AND you feel like you have to be like a video game character to hold your kiddos attention because they are already slippin into summer mode!*! Whew! that wears me out just thinking about it! The good thing is there is so much going on that it is super-easy to plan "fun stuff" that keeps the kiddos engaged {and learning...shhh don't tell them that part!} To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, we are going to read this super-fun book, "Chicks & Salsa" by Aaron Reynolds, do a little salsa sampling/data collection & make this fun lil writing craftivity to go along with the book . {Did you notice how I have very carefully hidden a tasty little snack in this activity!?! Yum!}
The pattern & reproducibles are all included in my "What's Hatchin' Chick?" unit.

Just click HERE to chick check it out! {Ha! ha! I could help that lil funny! } Here's a couple more lil activities that I made for this festive week. Enjoy the freebies!

THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

The eggs have arrived! Check it out...12 little babies! My firsties were soooo excited this morning when they saw them! Of course we got started right away on our little egg-hatching journals. We predicted how many eggs we think will hatch & drew a picture of our prediction. We will be writing in our journals each day until the "big hatch."
This lil reproducible book is in my "What's Hatchin' Chick?" unit. Click HERE or on the pic below to check it out.
I really REALLY love all of the fun chicken books that are out there. One of our favorites is "Big Chickens" by Leslie Helakoski. This book is such a HOOT!

After reading about these crazy clucks, we brainstormed what we thought it meant to be a "big chicken." Tomorrow we will be writing about things that turn us into "big chickens"-I can't wait to see what the kiddos write! Of course, I can't resist the opportunity for a little craftivity! Check out these super-cute "Big Chickens"...

The pattern for these cuties & the writing prompts are in my "Big Chicken Writing Craftivity" unit. Click on the pic to see more.

I'm really excited to have just two more days left til the weekend! WOO HOO! I'll keep you posted on the hatchin'!

Would you like the Cat in the Hat to come to your house? OMiWord!!! What would your mother think of that!?! I just can't wait for Dr. Seuss week! I'm not sure why I LOVE dressing up for our theme days so much....maybe I could become an actress after I retire! HA! HA! It is just too funny to see what the kiddos write for this one! Personalities definitely shine through! Check out these two...

My WILD {& So Fun} CaNoPY is Finished...Check It Out!!!

I am soooo excited to have finally finished the canopy for my classroom door! I've been working on this little {well I thought it was going to be a little project}for about a week. Since my theme is jungle this year, I made the canopy out of zebra-print and was going to try to trim it with that grass skirt stuff UNTIL...I read Babbling Abby's post on Sunday. She made the absolute cutest banner I've ever seen!!! That's when I got the idea to trim my canopy with a banner. So, on Monday guess what I did...YEP! I made another trip to Wal-Mart AND Hobby Lobby AND the Teacher Store AND Target!!! Whew! I was kid-free that day so I took advantage of it. Don't get me wrong-love my kiddos but...my 7 year-old son transforms into some type of uncaged wild animal when he walks through the door of Hobby Lobby!!! YIKES!!! Anyway, check out the goodies that I found! Oh Ya!!!
Ok, so I finally finished up this canopy and it turned out soooo gosh diggity wild & cute!!!!
Thanks so much Abby for inspiring the finishing touch on this project!!! Be sure to check out her awesome blog-The Inspired Apple. Don't look too close cuz I just grabbed a couple of clips and clipped it to my curtains to see how it looked. Well, here it is...

I'm sure it will be much cuter on my classroom door than it is on my living room window!!! {My son walked in and said, "I love our new curtains Mom!!!" Oh, to be 7!!!} I can't wait to take it to my classroom!!! {10 more days til I can work in my room-that floor waxin' thing is going on now.} I'll be sure to post more pics when I get it all set up with my jungle vines, palm tree, monkeys and a pink flamino!

My next project...those Adorable lil Crate Stools! Have you seen those?
