Let's make LEPRECHAUN JUICE!

Hey y'all it's time for the shenanigans to begin! Those tricky little leprechauns will be visiting our classroom this week to inspire some silly learning fun! Every year on (or around) St. Patty's day, a sneaky leprechaun visits our classroom leaving behind green footprints...

...some tasty treats and of course, a bit of chaos! lol One of my favorite treats is LEPRECHAUN JUICE!

I just tell my students that the leprechaun left a yummy treat for us, but when I start reading the label, it says "For kids only-Adults do not drink!" Well this is definitely not ok with me!!!...teachers love snacks & treats too! So of course I'm really gonna get dramatic with the kiddos and whine/complain that I really want to drink some too. I tell the class that I think I'll just take a little sip. Surely that won't hurt anything...right?!? Well...you know I'm gonna take a sip! lol And I usually pretend to love it SO much that I take another BIG gulp of it!!! Yum! and....nothing happens....for a few minutes anyway!!! Then I start complaining about my feet starting to itch....it gets so bad that I have to take my shoes and socks off and discover that my feet are starting to turn green!!!! Ahhhhhh! Be prepared, the kiddos LOVE this and it really inspires some fabulous writing!!!

Check Leprechaun Juice pack at my lil Tpt shop! {Click HERE} It includes recipe & labels for Leprechaun Juice, 6 writing prompts, craftivity pattern and directions, a sentence building activity and a reproducible emergent reader.

BEFORE SCHOOL PREP:
Before school I rub my feet down with diluted green food color...Don't worry it does wash off after a day or so. There are several alternatives if you are not too crazy about having green feet: a drop of green food color on your tongue to turn your mouth green, use washable marker or green Halloween makeup to turn your lips green, paint your hair green with green hairspray, etc... You could also use Wilson Green Color Mist. It is edible color spray used for cake decorating. I have found this on Amazon & Michael's with the cake decorating stuff.

Cheers to all the teachers willing to turn green for their students!!!
Hope you and your kiddos love it!

Lucky Leprechaun Loot Limericks FREEBIE!

Hey everyone! Hope your having a great week! Lovin' this Missouri weather-it's been in the 80s! (and the kiddos have a cRaZy case of spring fever!!} I think having them go on a leprechaun hunt this week is not going to help. One of my students is already convinced that he saw a leprechaun hiding in a hole in the ceiling next to the girls bathroom! Oh Wowsie!!! They are too cute! I think this might be the perfect time to have them do a little creative writing!

Just when I think I have everything planned for this week, a new idea pops into my head! So back to the computer...I just finished making this fun little St. Patty's Day reproducible book for my firsties and wanted to share it with you!
If you would like a copy of this fun lil book, all you have to do is click on the pic & then download your freebie copy! Hope your kiddos enjoy it! {I'll keep you updated on the sneaky leprechaun in our ceiling! lol}

Be on the lookout for a "Saving of the Green" flash sale coming up!

Lil Leprechaun Cuties & Highlights from Seuss Week

Are you ready for some green? Well, I know I am! {green grass, green flowers, green trees...sooo ready for spring!} Next week we will be starting on our Lil Leprechaun Cuties writing activity. My firsties have been on the lookout for leprechauns since March 1st so there's been lots of conversation about catching these sneaky little rascals. I can't wait to see what they write about! My "Lil Leprechaun Cuties Writing Craftivity" also includes a data collection activity. If you would like to see more, just click HERE!

OMIgoodness! we all just loved Dr. Seuss Week! All that super silly wacky rhyming brought a much need burst of energy to our classroom. {February is such a looooong month, isn't it?!?!} I had the kiddos make a list of rhyming words {real & silly words} and then write a silly Seussy sentence using as many of the words as they could.

"I have a pig and it is wharing a slig wig!" How Seussy!!!
Another great Seussy sentence: "The dragon rode in a bragon wagon with a stagon and a nagon."
If you would like a copy of this little reproducible, just click on either of the pics above!

After reading Green Eggs & Ham, I had the class look through magazines and cut out a picture of something that they would eat. Then we made this fun lil class book...

This was the example page that I did and then let them loose to create their page! Instead of "Sam I Am", they filled in their own names and some of the kiddos made rhymes and others didn't. But they were all very creative!{in a wacky Seussy way!}

This firstie is an AMAZING artist!!!
Too funny! I would eat Bagel Bites just about anywhere too!!! lol
Would you like a FREEBIE download of this class book? Just click HERE!!!

I also wanted to post a few pics of some of our kindergarten Seussy activities. Great job Jenny, Andrea, Kendra & Miranda! Your kinders did a GREAT job-they are just too stinkin' cute!
"I would kick them out of my house."
"Please help me. Save me from the animals."
