The Gingerbread Man Can! {Verb FREEBIE!}

Hey everyone! Happy December! DECEMBER?!?!?? Does anyone else wonder what in the world happened to November? I feel like there are soooo many activities to try to fit into December! My firsties have been working on verbs and I an anchor chart with this fun little poem/song that is sung to the tune of "B-I-N-G-O". My kiddos LOVED singing this song and adding verbs with post-it notes!

FLAT GINGY Craftivity!

You've heard of Flat Stanley and now it's time to introduce his holiday cousin...."Flat Gingy"! Well, Flat Gingy is nothing like his big brother, the Gingerbread Boy. Instead of running away, he would love nothing more than to spend some time with the students' families. I just can't wait to make these cutie patootie gingerbread buddies next week! I did this take-home project several years ago with my PreK class & I was amazed how excited the kiddos {& their families} were about it! Those gingerbread buddies went everywhere with the families & they sent back some really great pictures!!!

Just Say "NO" to Turkey! {Writing Craftivity}

It's that time of year when turkeys begin hiding to avoid a guest appearance on the Thanksgiving table! Poor little birds! Well, my firsties are ready to help them out...after reading "Turkey Trouble" by Wendi Silvano, we came up with different things that we could eat for Thanksgiving Dinner besides turkey. Then the kiddos put their persuasive writing skills to work to convince everyone to say "NO" to eating turkey for Thanksgiving. And omigoodness do they come up with some hilarious reasons to leave those poor turkeys alone! I can't wait to hang these in the hall! "Owl" About Me! Glyph/Writing Craftivity

 

This past week has been a real HOOT!! {Hoot Owls that is!} The kiddos loved making these fun owl glyphs & then writing sentences about themselves. These make a super-cute fall display also!

My firsties LOVED listening to the story "Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell. If you are looking for a great story for making text-to-self connections, this it the one! Baby Owlet Bill is a real hoot! The kids LoVeD him!
