Are you feeling like THIS?!??

Do you feel like this right now??? OMigoodness, I sure do! Our super early spring weather has caused a severe case of "spring fever"! I'm still keepin' my firsties attention but I feel like I have to do cartwheels & backflips to keep one step ahead of them...Whew!!! By the way, this is one of my kiddos "Big Chickens" from my Big Chickens Writing Craftivity-this one is a real HOOT! I've had more teachers walk by this chicken in our hallway and say, "I feel just like that!" {I think its the eyes! lol}  Well, I'm super excited that tomorrow is our last day before our "Spring Break" {actually its a 4-day weekend but I like to say Spring Break because its sounds better!} We are also having a "Staff Snack Day" tomorrow which ALWAYS makes the day better! I have found soooo many yummy looking recipes on Pinterest {yell if you LOVE Pinterest...AHHHHHH!} Well, I couldn't decide which recipe to make, so I made 2! Check these out....delish-lookin', huh?

Jalapeno Popper Dip!
Pickle Wrap Dip!
I love those Pickle Wrap things & have been looking for a good excuse to try this dip. And that Jalapeno Popper dip...well, just LOOK at it!!! {Can you tell I'm a snacker?}

This is the little chart of adjectives that we came up with this week to describe that silly Splat the Cat.

The kiddos are doing a great job of using describing words in their writing-yeahhh! And have you seen Babbling Abby's "Pop Rockin' Descriptive Writing" packet? This is filled with great activities-I just couldn't resist buying it! Super cute-thanks Abby!

I just love the Pop-Rocks & check out what I just found at the Dollar Store...yep the Dollar Store!!!
It's Pop-Rocks...Easter Bunny style!!!
So we're gonna adapt Abby's great activity just a little so we can use our "Hoppin Poppin Dip"! Yummy fun! Can't wait!!!

So just remember the tip of the day... "Everything seems better when we add a lil snack to it!" {Oh boy! I better go do some Jillian to make up for all that snackin that will be goin on tomorrow! lol} Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Easter Splat & a Chick Update

Are your kiddos "Splat Fans"? My firsties just love that silly little cat! This week we will be reading "Splat the Cat-Where's the Easter Bunny?"  & doing lot of fun Easter Splat activities. I don't know if its the look on Splat's face or what, but that is the cutest little critter I've ever seen! I just want to squeeze him!

Since we have been working on describing words, I created a lil reproducible book of adjectives that we will be working on this week.
We also we will be finishing up our readers response writing craftivity for a cute lil hallway display.

If you would like to check out more of my Easter Splat mini-unit, just click the pic below.

And a final little update on our "HATCH"....11 out of the 12 eggs hatched!
Awww! They're so cute!

The class LOVES those cute little peepers and really wanted to keep them forever. BUT....let me just tell you-those little cuties are BIG STINKERS!!! By Friday morning, it smelled like a barnyard in our hallway! Whew!!!! There was a lot of Fabreeze spritzin' going on that day! Needless to say, I love the egg-hatching project, but I also loved seeing them go to their new home!!! {I'm hoping that our tadpoles won't be nearly as smelly!} Looking forward to a 4-day week AND a 4-day weekend! WoooHOO!!!

We're Hatching! & a lil Farm Freebie

Oh the sound of the little peeps has arrived! First thing this morning we spotted 3 eggs with cracks! The kiddos quickly put away their stuff & grabbed their egg observation journals to log this exciting event. Well that little crack didn't seem to do a whole lot until....math time! As soon as I said, "Who can think of a way that we can make 10 with 3 numbers?"-I heard a loud squeal come from the back of the room. "It's HATCHING!" And instead of all eyes on the Smart Board, well you can just guess! Yep! 21 bodies huddled around the incubator in the back of the room...Oh well...so much for math today! We pulled those observation journals back out to write about our "first hatcher"! We have 6 more eggs with cracks & the kiddos are very anxious to see if any of them hatch during the night. I'm predicting an incubator full of fluffy yellow chicks in the morning!

I've also just posted this fun lil sentence-building center on TpT for FREE! Don't you just love freebies? I wish there were shoe freebies!!! lol {I think I'm addicted to shoes..& blogging....& clipart...OMigoodness! Do you think I need help for these addictions?!?}

If you would like to download this little center, just click on the pic! Hope you enjoy it!

THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

The eggs have arrived! Check it out...12 little babies! My firsties were soooo excited this morning when they saw them! Of course we got started right away on our little egg-hatching journals. We predicted how many eggs we think will hatch & drew a picture of our prediction. We will be writing in our journals each day until the "big hatch."
This lil reproducible book is in my "What's Hatchin' Chick?" unit. Click HERE or on the pic below to check it out.
I really REALLY love all of the fun chicken books that are out there. One of our favorites is "Big Chickens" by Leslie Helakoski. This book is such a HOOT!

After reading about these crazy clucks, we brainstormed what we thought it meant to be a "big chicken." Tomorrow we will be writing about things that turn us into "big chickens"-I can't wait to see what the kiddos write! Of course, I can't resist the opportunity for a little craftivity! Check out these super-cute "Big Chickens"...

The pattern for these cuties & the writing prompts are in my "Big Chicken Writing Craftivity" unit. Click on the pic to see more.

I'm really excited to have just two more days left til the weekend! WOO HOO! I'll keep you posted on the hatchin'!

Lucky Leprechaun Loot Limericks FREEBIE!

Hey everyone! Hope your having a great week! Lovin' this Missouri weather-it's been in the 80s! (and the kiddos have a cRaZy case of spring fever!!} I think having them go on a leprechaun hunt this week is not going to help. One of my students is already convinced that he saw a leprechaun hiding in a hole in the ceiling next to the girls bathroom! Oh Wowsie!!! They are too cute! I think this might be the perfect time to have them do a little creative writing!

Just when I think I have everything planned for this week, a new idea pops into my head! So back to the computer...I just finished making this fun little St. Patty's Day reproducible book for my firsties and wanted to share it with you!
If you would like a copy of this fun lil book, all you have to do is click on the pic & then download your freebie copy! Hope your kiddos enjoy it! {I'll keep you updated on the sneaky leprechaun in our ceiling! lol}

Be on the lookout for a "Saving of the Green" flash sale coming up!

Lil Leprechaun Cuties & Highlights from Seuss Week

Are you ready for some green? Well, I know I am! {green grass, green flowers, green trees...sooo ready for spring!} Next week we will be starting on our Lil Leprechaun Cuties writing activity. My firsties have been on the lookout for leprechauns since March 1st so there's been lots of conversation about catching these sneaky little rascals. I can't wait to see what they write about! My "Lil Leprechaun Cuties Writing Craftivity" also includes a data collection activity. If you would like to see more, just click HERE!

OMIgoodness! we all just loved Dr. Seuss Week! All that super silly wacky rhyming brought a much need burst of energy to our classroom. {February is such a looooong month, isn't it?!?!} I had the kiddos make a list of rhyming words {real & silly words} and then write a silly Seussy sentence using as many of the words as they could.

"I have a pig and it is wharing a slig wig!" How Seussy!!!
Another great Seussy sentence: "The dragon rode in a bragon wagon with a stagon and a nagon."
If you would like a copy of this little reproducible, just click on either of the pics above!

After reading Green Eggs & Ham, I had the class look through magazines and cut out a picture of something that they would eat. Then we made this fun lil class book...

This was the example page that I did and then let them loose to create their page! Instead of "Sam I Am", they filled in their own names and some of the kiddos made rhymes and others didn't. But they were all very creative!{in a wacky Seussy way!}

This firstie is an AMAZING artist!!!
Too funny! I would eat Bagel Bites just about anywhere too!!! lol
Would you like a FREEBIE download of this class book? Just click HERE!!!

I also wanted to post a few pics of some of our kindergarten Seussy activities. Great job Jenny, Andrea, Kendra & Miranda! Your kinders did a GREAT job-they are just too stinkin' cute!
"I would kick them out of my house."
"Please help me. Save me from the animals."
