Grab the sunscreen-let's head for the beach! These lil Beach Day Cuties are ready for some summertime fun! If you're looking for a fun little end-of-the-year activity...this is it! And don't tell your kiddos, but they will be using all of those writing skills {that you have worked soooo long and hard on all year long!} I really wish that I had a dollar for each time this year that I asked..."What does a "good sentence" need?"  Seriously folks, I would be able to afford a Carribean dream vacation!!! Has anyone else ever heard themselves repeating that question a bazillion times too??? {I bet you're laughing & shaking your head right now!} I know you all do the same thing!!! lol Oh well, that's why we have good ole summertime!

Ahhhh...Summertime is HERE!!! & a Giveaway

Oh the sweet smell of summertime...no schedules, no lesson plans, no alarm clocks {well, except for my little guys who seem to wake up earlier in the summer than they do during the school year!} Did you notice, I didn't say "no blogging"? I just can't seem to get enough of this blogging stuff-even if it is summertime! I've made so many wonderful friends through the blogging world that it would be impossible for me to take a summer break from that too! Much love to all my "bloggin' buddies"!!! And speaking of my Bloggin' Buds...a bunch of us have teamed up with the fabulous Katie King from Queen of the First Grade Jungle. Well I've been so eager for the summer and... now it's here and I just took a look at my "Summer To-Do" list...AUGH!!!!!!! It is sooooo stinkin' long! How did that happen??? Last year I decided to teach summer school & guess what? Yep, nothing was crossed off of my "2011 Summer To-Do List" so all of those things have been tacked onto my list for this summer! I'm pretty excited to say that we got started on a few of those projects around the house this weekend...and I'm starting to work on some of those unit requests that I've promised to finish up over the summer. I'm also hoping for a little vacation...still searching for the perfect spot though. Any ideas??? What kind of little vacation trips do you have planned for this summer?

Memory Book Freebie!

Hey everyone! Just putting together some of my end-of-the-year projects and wanted to share this mini memory book with you guys. Why is it a "mini" memory book you ask? Well...we have run out of paper at our school...YES! you read that right-we are out of copy paper {YIKES!!!} So everyone is scrambling to save paper anyway that we can. Those 8 1/2" X 11" sheets are like GOLD in our building!!! Well, with that being said, I'm sure that you understand why I decided to shrink down my memory book so that I could get 2 of the pages on a sheet of paper. And I'll be darned if it didn't just turn out as cute as can be! I actually like the smaller version better than the full-sheet version that we made last year. I decided to share this cute lil mini freebie with all of you first grade teachers out there that would like to save a little paper also. We've got ANTS!

Oh no! We've got ants everywhere...ANTonyms that is! These things are a lot cuter than the little pesky things that I keep finding in my kitchen! {I'm an animal lover BUT ants in the kitchen is definitely out of my comfort zone!} My firsties were still have a little trouble remembering that antonym means opposite. {That is a really big word, don't ya think?!?} Well, hopefully this fun lil craftivity has helped that big ole word stick in their minds! They sure did enjoy creating their ANTonyms. I wanted the kiddos to think of their own pair of opposites, so I was soooo excited when we created our anchor chart & they had no troubles coming up with oodles of opposites...yeah 1st graders!!!

These lil guys are just too stinkin' cute! No one seems to mind having these lil critters invading our hallway!
